Hey I found out that I had a vacuum leak from both my upper and lower intake manifold gaskets when I had my car tuned last. I fixed the problem and took my car back over to Dewayne over at Logan Motorsports. It turned out I was running pretty rich due to the lack of vacuum leak and now I was able to gain a peak 196 ft/lbs of torque and gain some mpg's while I was at it. Hooray for Logan.

Too bad they are not closer to me. I really need more tuning since i wasn't happy with where i went.
Like Jrak said what mods/setup do you have?

Well i have that idle thing you had Josh. But its weird, sometimes i have it and other times it idles perfect. Also i have a very sight buck feeling when im on the throttle very lightly. Kind of hard to explain.
Otherwise though i am happy with the tune. It was only 2 hours of tuning also so that could be some of my problem. The tune isn't crap just needs a little more work.

I gotta tell ya, it took Logan about two hours to tune the car when I was up there the first time, and they got it dead on. I dunno if "only" two hours is the problem.

my car is the exact same way, idles poorly and loopy *sometimes* and on throttle tip in it bucks. Same exact problem.

too me its seems that you are not putting down as much power as you should be. thought the full 3L were supposed to be around 220~230 hp and the hybrids at 205~210 hp. was it the dyno or the tune

IDK who you are really asking but his dyno is KNOWN to put down lower numbers. You can go up the street to the same model DynoJet and get almost 10hp more automatically. I really wasn't worried about the numbers just a nice tune.

Go to some other place if you are not satisfied with the tune. I'm sure there are plenty of other locations in your area.

I know it almost seems unreal, but when I had the vacuum leak I was getting about 24-27 mpg if I cruised around 50mph without any traffic. Now after the vacuum fix and re-tune I'm getting 40-43mpg on the same 15min long stretch of road. In light traffic I get about 31mpg throughout the day. I can really feel the difference in torque too. I don't have to shift down from 5th on a hill any longer and the car seems to just take off from a stop. I think the extra 10 ft/lbs of torque is all the car needed to feel just right. It's amazing what a proper tune will do for our cougars. Here's my cd site It'll tell you more about my car.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2432046/1
This tune should hopefully make me happier at the track as well. Gotta wait till spring though.

Is that an actual calculation or what your MPG display in your car tells you?

No I haven't calculated yet since I just got the tune on Friday. That's just what the display says. It's still way better than anything it's said before.

Hate to break your heart man, but that display lies like a dog.

Especially when you have larger injectors.
I found it to only be accurate on highway trips on my 2.5L when i ran through an entire tank in one drive. Even then it was consistantly off by a very small margin. 1 mpg or so. City driving it wasnt even close lol.

That was the joke of the HOUR! I wish there was more places around me.

Then try the place where my car got tuned then. It'll be a drive, but I'll tell you it's worth it.

the reason why you were getting such good milage is becaus you were running really lean because of all the unmetered air the engine was talking in. The MPG calculator on the dash is calculated based off MAF volts(load) and TPS as well as fuel enrichment. you were inducing more air to the engine(load) and was being metered, but the O2 sensors corrected for it so you would be running.... meh.... ok.

Interesting, the MPV one seems very accurate compared to actual calculations.
Hey Jason what is that I notice on your signature?? Does this mean that you have met a match? What does dd think?

I'm actually getting better mileage now vs before.
