View Full Version : Crashed my bike yesterday

So I took my bike out and was practicing some stunts in a lot with a couple riding buddies...here's what happened: (taken from my bike forum)
Well, I had my first stunter's crash today. Got up in a full JC (and it was actually a good one this time hehe), threw up the obligatory "stick it to the man" fist, leaned a bit too far to one side, got halfway down, smack. I hit the side of my head on the pavement, let the bike go, and slid backwards on my back. Bike hit the curb and went into the grass (this was in a parking lot of course). Broke a fairing that was already cracked, but now it's in pieces! yess...., but I didn't break any levers or anything 'important'. And I was going to get a cage for stunting this winter. Eh...I guess I may be goin' nekkid! Woot!
Oh yea, I'm fine...bit of a headache, inside of one knee is ouchie, and my little foot got scraped up. I was wearing different shoes that fit much better on my seat, but they don't protect very well I found out. Doh.
And I was wearing the SAME pants I was when I crashed last time. scared.gif Into the garbage they go.
I should just keep my hands to the side...that's probably why they call it the JC and not "Stick it to the Man" http://www.mnsportbikeriders.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wheelie.gif

Jesus Christ! .......har har
Heidi.... you are crazy.......and have incredible balance. I can't even ride a bicycle with no hands, let alone stand up on one with a motor.

The stunt is more stable at a higher speed (within limits), so I was going about 35-40mph, staying in 2nd gear at about 6500 rpm (the bike redlines at about 15000)

That's not actually me on the bike...it's a photo I found. But that's what it looks like. Its scary at first but crazy fun! I have opened myself up to the addictive world of stunting...you know, because riding sport bikes isn't dangerous enough for me ;) ;)

Damn thats crazy. I would say be careful but theres not really anything careful about standing up on your bike. At least you and the bike aren't hurt to bad.

Haha thanks...yea stunting is pretty risky. I expect to fall alot more in the learning process. That's why I'm getting a cage put on this winter so I don't eff up the bike too bad. As for me, I learn to fall correctly and hope not to break anything. :)
It's so much fun though...seriously.

wow, that really crazy. I can imagine doing wheelies and stoppies but this is a little too much i think. But i know it looks cool and feels awesome when you do it right but it comes with a very high cost and i don't mean the cost of the bike repair. Heidi do you have a boyfriend?

I don't currently have a digi cam that doesn't suck, so pics up eventually. Maybe I'll take some crap-tastic ones with my phone.
I don't even know how to do wheelies and stoppies yet...this is my first 'real' stunt besides the Starfish (sitting on the tank with arms and legs out in a star). I'm learning wheelies next year, but I don't think I'll attempt stoppies. I'm not all about the bike landing on me. I started learning merry-go-rounds but I need a cage before i really try that
PS: No boyfriend...no dudes want to put up with me! I've come to think that I'm the un-datable girl. :(

I'll still come break legs for ya kid, so thats gotta be worth something. ;) Glad to see you're alright though, and that it hasn't deterred you from wanting to learn more stunts. At least on this subject . . . you've got bigger balls than I do. I'd NEVER be standing on a bike like that.

they're alot cheaper to fix up... and their lower to the ground so you dont fall as far.
Taras

scooters are awesome i had three of them. Only 50cc though. But they were high output with water cold engines and hydraulic disk brakes in front and back. The one on the pic had 9hp and the top speed I got it to was 60mph. I could to wheelies on it but it was hard to get it up because there is no clutch and you have to feel when the most torque is and then yank on the steering bar. My friend had a Yamaha scooter and he got exhaust, air intake and lower ratio tranny gears for it, so he could get it up by just twisting the accelerator.

My roomie has a 50cc bike, a Honda that looks like a dirtbike...he also does roadracing with his F4i but the fiddy is so cool. I'm scared to ride it but I'll stunt my 600cc bike...crazaayyy
