The largest Student Film Festival in the world has finally come to San Jose.

And guess who helped bring it here?
Yup, yours truly.

For the past few months, I have worked on little else.
And now it's time to see the fruits of that labor.

Last week, teams of 5-10 SJSU students were given Apple Laptops, digital camcorders, and all the training they needed to make short 5 minute movies. They had a week with the equipment, and had to have their movies turned in by Monday.

Those movies are now currently being judged, and this Friday (the 13th) there will be a red-carpet event at SJSU's Event Center where the top 16 movies at the school will be shown on the big screen, and prizes for Best Picture and Best Comedy will be awarded.

The Event is going to be Emceed by Margaret Cho, and will feature appearances by your favorite Irvinian Transplant (me) from time to time throughout the night (to give away prizes to audience members, etc.).

Tickets for the general public would normally cost $10, but since you guys know me, you got the hookup. So I can get any of you, and your friends, in for free.

The movies that the students have made are AMAZING, and it is shaping up to be an unbelievable night. So I hope some of you will be able to join me. If nothing else, the popcorn will be cheap ;)

Post here, or email me to let me know ASAP if you want to go.

I get a kick out of student things like this. I have a teacher who is Chilean and is also an author and he organized a Latin American performing arts night that was a blast, they wheren't students but you get my point.

I'd go but I don't feel like driving at the moment.
