Any one know of any good all season tires that can handle the snow? If not, any good snow tires? Mine need changing fast!

Nokians. These. (http://nokiantires.com/en/tire_wr.aspx?season=winter) Get the 205/55R16's. Lori and I both have them on our cars, and they are great in the snow.

Somewhere around $500 installed for all 4. Mounted, balanced, etc. Don't remember if they did an alignment at the same time or not. No more expensive than the Firestones or Goodrich tires. So far I've got about 45K miles on them, and I won't need a new set before sping, which should be at 50K. I've had them for about 3.5 years now, I think...

I will say that I won't be putting new Nokians on in the summer.

Pros
Good in the snow
Lasted much longer than the Firestones - changed at 35, had been noticebly sucky at 30 - and Goodriches - which were going at 20K and I changed at 30K.

Cons
They are an off size, so they look a bit funny
Great in the snow, hold well in the rain, not so good in dry - I squeal turning into a parking spot at the grocery store...due to:
Lower speed rated than OE specs

Considering Kumho ECSTA ASX's next. 2 of the 3 reviews on Tirerack (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=ECSTA+ASX&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=15WR6EASX&fromCompare1=yes&place=4&speed_rating=TR&speed_rating=UR&speed_rating=HR&speed_rating=VR&speed_rating=ZR&speed_rating=WR&speed_rating=YR&minSpeedRating=T) are from people who have them on the WRX STi's.

why the hell would you put snow tires on all 4 wheels? its a front wheel drive car!

I hear that if you only have traction on your front tires, your rear tires tend to slide around a lot.

Could just be my opinion, I mean, it's not like I've ever driven in snow before, but it's the same reason why a good tire shop will put the two new tires on your rear wheels (if you get two new ones and have two half worn ones). Rear end sliding around == bad mojo.

Alternatively I could insert a giant DURRR smiley here.

maybe its just the way i rotate my tires, but every fall my front end gets new tires and my rears get the used fronts which have about 50%+ tread left... i really never have any issues driving int he winter... i get a lil slippy on bad days but having snow tires doesnt give you immunity to road conditions... i just slow down and take my time in the winter
