I got these gauges........ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290024377471&category=33677
I was wondering if the needles can be placed in the holes without removing the needles.
I also got a bezel.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-2002-MERCURY-COUGAR-SILVER-CARBON-FIBER-BEZEL_W0QQitemZ290029188703QQihZ019QQcategoryZ4395 1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Does the bezel go over the exsisting one or does it replace it?

i dont really see how you could get it on without pulling the needles off. putting the needles back on it the fun part anyway, ive done it before. the speedo is probably the hardest on to reset. as for the overlay im not sure when you take everything apart, try it on and see which way fits and looks better.

I did mine without removing the needles -- it's possible, just be very careful and go slow with it.

oh really? i thought it would be alittle hard to to keep the needles in their position and slide them through the holes without moving them much. i swap the ones on my old car, didnt bother to read the directions, just pried the needles off, then spent the next week trying to set them perfect. this makes me feel alittle better about trying to swap my cougar gauges.

Yup it's possible. I believe I did the speedo and tach needles first (obviously had to point them up) and then got the other needles on. You may have to recalibrate them if you're too rough on them. BTW, save yourself a lot of time and frustration and when you install these make sure you use double sided tape behind the gauges!!! Even if you get the plastic face back on when you're "done" and do a gauge sweep that works fine, the needles have an uber bad habit of waiting until youve put the whole dash back together again and then deciding they want to get stuck constantly at a certain MPH or RPM *sighs* :banghead:

If I do have to pull the needles do I slide or directly point the needle where it needs to be? (EX. full gas tank, do I slide it from empty to full or just point it right at full?)
