Resetting the computer after performance mods

At one of the last meetings, someone mentioned resetting their Cougar's computer to recognize performance mods they had just put on. Is that something that anyone else has noticed they had to do after doing something performance related like an induction or exhaust installation? And if so, how do I do that? I'm about to get a few things in, and after I get them installed, I'd like to feel the different immediately...

You should disconnect the battery to reset after mods for 15 minutes, at least. Then after reconnecting, turn the key to the accessory position (before starting) and watch the needles all go around the gauges and come back down. Once it has done that, go ahead and start the car. But it has to "learn" the mod for a couple of days, so it won't be instantaneous. I still can't get my check engine light to shut off. It will after doing the reset, but a couple of days later it goes back on again. I know it's cause of my MAF and Weapon R, but oh well -- I'll deal with it for now.

is the maf calibrated to the exhaust and weaponr? did you ever consider purchasing the maf calibrator thingy?

I have to get one from SP Motorsports. That's where I got the MAF from. I'll wait until I get a few more things first though.
