Well I wanna upgrade so there for im going to upgrade so it will last for a few years and not be totally obsolete. Also I play alot of games and have seen what BF2 runs like on a machine with a 4600 and OMG its like a wet dream. and not the prices are coming down BIG time on the dual-cores. 4400 are only like 200 now so

How about a brand new retail boxed AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ for $190? Yes, this is the dual core proc that uses the 939-pin, not the new AM2.

2000Mhz 512KB cache X 2!

that's 4Ghz, not overclocked - you could easily push the 5Ghz mark!

Any version of Windows XP will support 2 procs, they're great for multi-tasking and rock solid, I've never had a problem with an AMD X2 before, and this is what I do for a living.

PM me if you're interested!

Thanks

Newegg is selling an athlon 64 for $99. I saw a site somewhere with a promo code that would reduce that to $69 but the $99 itself is a good price.

Yes, the Athlon 64 X2 3800+ is still for sale - PM me if you're interested!

The only reason I'm selling it is because I just started as a network admin at a company using an X2 4800+ and they upgraded to the new AM2 socket and they're using the X2 5200+ now, so I'm able to buy their old 4800+. Otherwise the 3800+ is wayyy more than I need at home! Even the 3800 is more power than almost anyone needs!

Let me know,

Thanks!

Well they have an open box Athlon 64 X2 4200+ for about $187 shipped.

Your choice, "open box" is OEM. They are binned different than boxed proc's and aren't overclockable and aren't as stable. They usually require a bit more voltage.

It's up to you, and I'd take a little off the price if you want.

BTW, I just checked their site and the OEM 4200 is no longer available, nor the boxed version at the moment. There is only a 200Mhz difference anyway.
