i recently had an alternator go out. i've replaced the alternator and the battery. now every time i go to start the car, my gauge needles go all the way up then back down and my trip computer thing resets. the clock also stops keeping time when the car is off. what the hell is causing this? how can i fix this?

fuse is blown...... do your interior lights come on? if not then the fuse is blown mine was doing the same thing. it is a 7.5 in the bottom row not sure what one.

Atomicinternet ( Brad ) had this kind of problem as well. If memory serves, it turned out to be a coroded connection in a ground line or power line. Basically, unbolt all your major grounds and power feed to and from your battery ( 4 gage or larger ones ) and clean them out well and reassemble them.
