The bulbs in the passengers visor are fine, both of the lights in the drivers visor don't come on. I don't know if they're both burnt out or something else. Anybody know what size bulb they are and where I can get replacements?

thanks,

Mike.

What year do you have, for starters?

In my '99, no fuse is specifically listed for the vanity mirror lights; however I'd guess it'd be 31 or 34. But both of those have other things on them, and I'd bet both mirrors are on the same circuit. Does your glove box light work? Do your power mirrors work? If so, it's probably not the fuses.

If the fuse is good, I'd think it'd be the switch or a broken wire if both bulbs aren't working - my car is seven years old and both of mine still work.

It is also possible that the bulbs are bad - you can pop out the plastic covers with a small screwdriver, but the bulbs are unusual. I didn't try to take one out, but it looked like they'd just slide out from the base. I'd swap one with the passenger side visor (known working) to see if that helps the problem or not. That will help you figure out whether it's blown bulbs or a wiring issue.

Hi, I have a 2000 Mercury cougar and my bulbs went out in my driver vanity mirror, so i replaced the bulbs and that didnt solve the problem. So what i dedcided to do was open up the visor and i found that the wire connecting to the bulbs was diconnected like it got pulled apart.

To fix this i bought some extra wire to extend the cable so it wouldnt break again and then used black tape to cover the exposed wiring.

You dont have to do the last step but you should open up your visor and see if you have the same problem i did.

If it is just the bulbs you can find them at any auto store.

For the benefit of future searchers, the bulbs in the visors are size 37 which are available at most auto parts stores. I don't think ford ever intended for these to be changed, because it's a pain, lol.

Mike.
