You cant burn out 99% of cougars.... thats mostly a RWD big engine thing. Do yourself a favor ... dive around the water keep your tires dry.
Even with the most powerful of cougars on here, aren't they just burning one tire up more than the other anyways? You really don't need to burnout our cars. I don't see any of us running slicks on the front 10 second Honda Civic style or anything. :(
Skip the water pit, you'll just drag water on the drag and piss everyone off.:)

No. Anyone with half a brain who has a "powerfull" cougar will put in an LSD if they ever have the tranny out so that the one wheel thing doesn't happen. And even when my car had the stock open diff. in it it still spun both wheels all the time.

I'm wrong, but I now know. :)

I did burn outs when I was running the Drag with R compound tires. They picked up rocks so the burn outs helped clean the tires off. Had to go through the water box in order to acheive wheel hopless burnout.
This also worked well for my BGF KDW2 tires.
I also while doing this discovered that If i attempted to burn out @ too low of an RPM the car would wheel hop. But the magical point seemed to be about 4500-5000.
However I do have a solid front motor mount and Konis which helped minimize wheel hop as much as possible.
I do not have LSD and I spun both tires.

no point in even attempting a "burnout" with the coug. unless you have enough tq to spin em clean then maybe but even tho no.
i have 200+fw hp and tq now and i still dont spinem to make smoke. only to clean the rocks out n such.

couldnt you do that if you put in some high comp pistions, maby bored it out, port and polish, with SVT goodies, tuning hotter cams..anotherwords new engine lol (just curious) and some tranny stuff (flywheel clutch etc.?)
Then again if it was bored and/or stroked it wouldn't be a 2.5L anymore..

im sure you can get pretty damn close to 200 fwhp from 2.5L esp. if you have all the SVT or even a complete SVT swap
200crank hp stock
is about 170ish whp
headers, full exhaust, cai, mill the heads a bit more to bump the comprssion up, port the heads a little more, and have the SVT upper taken to the 3rd level, and tuning im sure you can pick up the 30whp considering that isnt that much to pick up
nice burn out btw, looks like the one i did on DR's with the zx2 lol

Very VERY few people have take a 2.5L to 200whp. I think the number is....2 people. (aside from full out race engines with 13.1 or higher compression)
and it was about 197whp.
Thats with every possible mod and the best duratec tuning masters on the earth.

200fwhp ALL MOTOR is Extremly difficult to obtain.
Nitrous DOESNT COUNT.

Didn't I read somewhere when the 2.5 was in the testing phase it made 300HP at the crank?

Just to give people an idea I've dyno'd quite a few times with tunning
and I have every bolt-on to be had and put down 172FWHP N/A.
On the bottle see sig below.

As said before 200whp is hard to do with a N/A 2.5.
As for the comment on the SVT engine...200 at the crank is right, but 170whp?
The majority numbers I've seen for the SVT's STOCK are running around 160-165 whp.
So to add 35 whp is a pretty big amount of work for these cars. People get close, but in all honesty, your better off just doing a 3L because in the long run you get more power for less money.
And of course, for anyone that likes to drag, should have a LSD.
