Re: READ THIS FIRST - WHAT ENGINES WILL FIT MY CAR?

The Lincoln LS/Jaguar 3.0 engines from 2002-2002 did not have VVT, this was introduced in the 2003 MY. The '00-'02 engine made 215 HP at the crank and 178 at the rear and should be compatable. The intake manifolds are quite different from the FWD engines, this is where a lot of the modification would have to take place.

And . . . *drumroll please* . . . MAJOR fuel line modifications due to FWD vs RWD/AWD.

Not trying to start a flame war here, but can we see some credentials? There are many VERY knowledgeable people who have assembled this FAQ through experience, so I kinda wonder who you are.

Re: READ THIS FIRST - WHAT ENGINES WILL FIT MY CAR?

Completely incorrect. All Jaguar X-type engines 2.5L or 3.0L have VVT on them. The LS is a different car and the engine is mounted differently so it is quite possible the LS didn't have VVT until later on. There is no question that the Jaguar X-type has had it since it was put on the market in 2002. The LS does have a lower hp rating for 2002 at 210hp vs the Jag's 231hp so it's possible that the LS didn't have VVT until 2003.

For which years do the SVT Cams switch in with no extra work?

No problem, I've been northeast region director of the Lincoln LS Owner's Club for several years, I own an '00 Lincoln LS with 3.0L and one of the rare Getrag manual transmissions. Also for MY '03 and forward the throttle was changed from mechanical to electronic. I've been roving boards for lots of different cars to try and find what people are doing to modify their 3.0's. The best example I've found is the Roush tuned 3.0 for the Noble, that sucker puts out 425 hp with modified cams, port & polished heads, forged pistons and twin turbo's, but at $18,000 an engine I guess you should expect as much.

I'm not positive, but I believe the biggest difference in the LS/Jag engine is in the heads, the valves and cams use DAMB tappets instead of the rollers used in the taurus/sable. In the Jag it's known as the AJ30 engine. Believe it or not the 3.0 was orriginally a Porsche design which they sold to Cosworth(which Ford just sold) who developed the 2.5 Duratec and eventually bored it out to the 3.0 litre size.

Re: READ THIS FIRST - WHAT ENGINES WILL FIT MY CAR?

When I asked the 3L Install Maestro I was told around 3g, not sure if that counted the engine though ...

Edit: BTW does anyone know anything about the 3L crate engine on arizonadynochip.com ?
