If you are doing the work I'd go with SVT cams. If you are paying for it then it depends. It also depends on what you will be doing with the car. I suppose you could say 3.0L would be better for daily driving because the power is lower in the RPM range and it would be more usable. If you are shooting for the highest hp you can get then you would probably want to go with the SVT cams.
Isn't there a difference between the cams in the later 3L's vs earlier 3L's as well?
Like blackcoog was saying what are you going to be using the car for?
I think the 01-03 3L cams are slightly different than the 04+ 3L cams.
-03 Escape motor
-Doing my own work
-very reasonable price for the hardware
-unlikely that I'll ever see a dragstrip, usually drive pretty responsibly but would appreciate the ability to surprise people. Pretty much never drive at speeds greater than 80 mph, but lots of highway time.

then stay with the 3L cams, you will love the low to midrange power

Like the others said, I'd go with 3L cams as well. I drive mine daily and it's great, I also hit the highway for 1.5-2hr's about once a week. I don't have any experience with the SVT cams so I can't give a great comparison but the 3L cams do well.
My experience with svt cams is both in my 2.5L and a full 3.0l that I have of a buddy of mine,if your already that far do it, I personally like where the power band is after an svt cam swap, when I put them in my 2.5 it woke that motor up obviously the blower helps with that too,but the power band is great. In the full 3.0L svt cammed vehicle it still has plenty of low end snort and its not even dialed in completely. I think alot of the power differences is more in the intake you use wether it be split port with IMRC or oval port. With my car at a stop it feels like there is a slight lag till the secondaries open then its nutz where as the full 3.0L is nutz as soon as you hit the gas. Good luck![]()
