3L W/o AC=No Cooling Fans
Now since I had this swap done it october of last year, i've never really noticed it but since its been getting warmer lately i've noticed that the low and high speed fans never kick on when in traffic or idling. The temp gauge doesn't move above t.d.c. so unless its borken everything looks to be good. I just don't want to cook the 3L on my first long trip in 90 degree heat. Anyone else have this issue and what did they do to resolve it? I used to have a 2.5 ATX and the fan came on even in the winter. I never changed the raditator so its the stock ATX one just without anything A/C related. Any thoughts or am i going to have to go deeper into this one?

Re: 3L W/o AC=No Cooling Fans
You can adjust the tune so that the fans kick on sooner. I know jaged runs a 3L with no A/C and has no overheating problem.
I sincerely hope you invested in an aftermarket water temp gauge though - the stock one is ****, by the time it tells you your engine's too hot you're pretty well ****ed.

Re: 3L W/o AC=No Cooling Fans
the aftermarket guage is nice but I noticed it is alot slower to respond then what the pcm is reading.
only thing that I can think if it the high pressure switch was a ground that let the fans work as I recall someone wiring a switch to turn the fans on to the high pressure sensor. also make sure the fans are plugged in correctly.

Re: 3L W/o AC=No Cooling Fans
There is a way to read the engine coolant temp by pressing the select and reset buttons on the dash (search for it). If you are getting over 220 degrees without fans then there is an issue. It's possible your t-stat is stuck open and your not ever getting to temp.

Re: 3L W/o AC=No Cooling Fans
yes you need a way of correctly reading the temperature and not trusting what the stock displays are/are not telling you.
without AC I believe you will never see low fan speeds again but it should hop to high at 220. I run without an A/C as well without issue.

Re: 3L W/o AC=No Cooling Fans
It appears that the drowning pool, nonpoint, five finger death punch concert had played one hell of a game on my hearing. Upon using the in-car unit, reset button to check engine temp i discovered without fans shes at 194-198=very nice. The low limit fans do kick on at 210 and it took me 5 minutes to get there from 198 with just revving the engine. I'm not too worried now but it appears that they are running. Was just used to high-speed fan when i had the old ATX 2.5...never even noticed the low one.Cooling=ok

Re: 3L W/o AC=No Cooling Fans
lol, good to hear, I was convinced mine were broken for years because I have never once heard them turn on [until I dropped in an svt radiator and had to make sure the lines were filled]
