Thumbs up SVT LITE Upgrade For Dummies

SVT LITE For Dummies
================================

What you will DEFINATELY need:

SVT Upper Intake Manifold - 1S8Z9424AA
SVT Throttle Body - F7RZ9E926AA
SVT Throttle Body Bracket - F8RZ9677AA

================================

Now ask yourself:

"Self, was my car built after May 1999?"
(This can be determined by looking at the info plate on the drivers side door)

If you said NO you will also need:
SVT Lower Intake Manifold - F7RZ9U531AA

If you said YES you just saved about $90

================================

Now ask yourself:
"Self, is my car an ATX with cruise control?"

If you said YES you will also need:
Cruise Control Cable - F5RZ9A820B

If you said NO or don't use cruise you just saved a few $$$

================================

Now ask yourself:
"Self, is my car an MTX?"

If you said YES you will also need:
SVT Throttle Cable - XS8Z9A758CA

If you said NO you just saved a few $$$

================================

Optional but recommended:

SVT Throttle Body Gasket - F5DZ9E936AE
Upper Intake Manifold Gasket SET - F5RZ9H486BA
Lower Intake Manifold Gasket SET - F5RZ9439B
(Only Needed If You Are Buying The Lower Intake As Well)
EGR Gasket - E6AZ9D476B
IACV Gasket - E83Z9F670A

================================

Once all that is collected you can grab the UIM rebuild guide which will show you how to take the upper manifold off and if needed the lower (even if your LIM is SVT spec, what the hell, your already in there so take it off and clean it!)

Re: SVT LITE Upgrade For Dummies

Thanks for this. This was posted by DanG in the original thread, but hopefully this one clears up a lot of questions many people seem to be starting new threads about.

It works out since I was going to go order the parts for this today. (Just picked up SVT UIM, TB, and cams. I'll probably never use the cams, but they won't hurt to have incase.)

Re: SVT LITE Upgrade For Dummies

Yes... lately theres been alot of SVT lite questions that are pretty repetitive and the stickie lacks part numbers at the top and scrolling is annoying... so having done it myself i figured a cleaned up straight forward version would help

Re: SVT LITE Upgrade For Dummies

the gaskets are "interchangeable" meaning the stock TB gasket will work on the SVT throttle body if its turned upside-down

Re: SVT LITE Upgrade For Dummies

Remember to cover up your LIM. Don't drop things in there. Simple common knowledge, but if something accidently fell...

Get the bracket. If you cannot it is possible to modify your stock existing bracket, but why do it redneck? If you were in my situation as I was (2000 ATX Cougar) you'll see the throttle body cable hole. You'll notice the SVT TB is upside down so your Throttle Body Cable needs to be way lower than it is stock. I drilled a hole and then filed it down to make a copy of it on the bottom part of the bracket. Works fine. Still get a SVT, it'll make life easier than running a mini fab shop in your garage.

Watch out for those stupid UIM Vacuum Lines. Press down on the retainer thing with your fingernail and then the line will pull straight out. These things like to break. DON'T USE ANYTHING BUT YOUR OWN HANDS. These seriously come out easy.

I have no idea where the stock spring and a spare bolt went to the throttle body. You may have the same situation. These were probably covered, but they were the biggest points of my day today. (actually, I didn't forget to cover the LIM, but others may.)

Re: SVT LITE Upgrade For Dummies

No, you will not need a different throttle body cable. You will only need a different cruise control cable, the SVT one, if you use your cruise control.
