I think this is called the coil pack. (the black box that all the spark plug wires go to behind the upper intake manifold.) Did they change anything from 2000 to 2001 with the coil pack? Basically will a 2000 coil pack work on a 2001 cougar? Thanks

Not 100% sure, but i think they are different, thats why Ford Racing wires will only work on 99-00.
Correct: The "coil pack" changed on the 2001 model from the previous yr. Also, the spark plug wires are different (the connector is different)
Why they changed it I have no idea. I don't know either if you can swap the wires/coil pack combination between model years, and didn;t want to waste my money just to find out. If you do find out though, let us know!
