Dual Mode Dampener, is it worth it?

I know what they do, but is it something that is only necessary if you're pushing high horse power applications? Is it lighter than the stock one? How hard is it to install?

But heavier than the stock one i think... And easy to installl... just take off wheel pull off wheel well inside cover untensions belt pull off with puller bolt on DMD and retension.... Should be it...

It's heavier than the stock one (hence "dual mass")... But if it's heavier, doesn't it actually hinder performance slightly?

In theory it's that simple. However do the process right.
Use a NEW crank bolt since it is one time use only bolt and torque to proper specs. Just slapping a new one on without using a new bolt or proper tq specs will cause problems.

IMO - I would think that if the dampener is heaver then it would adversely affect the performance.. I'd think an ATX would never get off the line..

The DMD is ~1lb heavier then the stock damper. However being a small radius unit the change due to weight is negligable at best.
Matter of fact it is more likely to make more power in the upper rpms since the crank whip, flex, & vibrations are lessened.

Ford doesn't seem to think that its only for high power applications. They redesigned it for the run-of-the-mill 170hp 2.5L. The DMD is so worth it. The engine is so smooooooooth now and it feels like it revs slightly quicker. I'm truly surprised of how much vibration there was previously. Also, power comes on more evenly now as the engine revs.

They're about the same. The DMD is only slightly heavier. It's negligible.

How hard is it to install?
I got mine installed at great Ford dealership that I trust completely since I had no time to do it myself. Cost me $82 Canadian ($50 USD) to install it at my Ford dealer (1.1 hours). They said it was a piece of cake. Terry told me that some whacko Ford dealership on the US east coast was charging $250 USD for installation. I highly recommend getting them from Terry. The whole transaction only took about a week which is very good for something ordered from the US to Canada. The shipping itself only took only two days. The price is only slightly more than BAT.
