Also, it may be the same engine, but if you read the original post in this thread you will see that it's much better just to purchase an SVT engine instead of finding all the parts. Also, since my questions I looked up after many hours of searching I seem to have answered me own. The only one left is how do I know I'm getting a 2000 SVT Engine? The salvageyard lists it from a 2000 Ford Contour SVT. Did ALL 2000 Contours have the updated fuel system so my stock harness will fit it?

Re: SVT Upgrades- By request
I will agree that it would be much easier to buy a 2.5 with all svt parts rather than buying a 2.5 and finding/installing all the parts, however what I am failing to understand is if you have the skills to swap to an svt engine and ECU why you can't do the same with a 3.0. It's really not much more complicated, and you would be getting a much better engine. For one thing the 2.5 svt will only give you about 195hp/170tq and the 3.0 will give you 200/200.

Re: SVT Upgrades- By request
I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else already,
but, what is the easiest/cheapest/most reliable/etc. way to get these svt parts. I'm looking specifically at the 'svt lite' modifications. Thanks |

Re: SVT Upgrades- By request
well,.. i wouldn't mind getting a SVT 2.5 dropped in.. but for the 01-02 cougars, it would be harder.. because u have to have the 2000 svt (returnless style) and on top of that the 2000 svt ECU. which IS THE ONLY ecu programed for the returnless style...
![]() .. atleast i think...

Re: SVT Upgrades- By request
if your going to go as far as getting an svt motor you might as well do a 3.0L from an escape and get the torque to match the horsepower
