    Question SVT ecu/pcm

Ok this isn't about how it works or which ones work or anything like that. This is simply the question of where can i find one (and for a decent price) or if i need to even find one. So things fell into place and making my 2.5 svt and i have everything i need except for the ecu I have a WTB ad in the forms and no replies everywhere else I have looked has just been impossible to find a good one let alone a decent price. i was just wondering if anyone knew where to get one or what it takes to tune a regular mtx ecu to svt and if so where i could get an mtx ecu? Thank you.

they pop up once in a while and go just like that.
    quickest and easiest way:
buy a running peice of **** for 300$ off craigslist, then drive around til u find a svt driving on the road and total it with ur pos. then u can take the ecu.

An SVT ECU will have nothing on a custom tune, so if you have the funds available you should go that route.

ok i guess ill keep it in mind the problem is that i dont exactly have the funds but if i have to i will. but i cant remember where i saw it but is the ecu for our car and the contour behind the power steering reservoir because if it is the ecu might still be at the wreaking yard i found the contour in.

Yes, you pull the power steering tank, IIRC there is 1 bolt to loosen, then you go inside under the carpet, remove another bolt and it will slide down and out.

Edit- actually, i dont think you have to unbolt the harness in the engine bay.

Nope. It's not in the engine bay. It's inside by the passengers footwell like you thought. You do however have to go behind and below the steering reservoir to access a single bolt on the middle of the harness connector.

Even if you find one you can't run it without the keys for that ECU. You'd have to pull the chips out of the keys and swap them into your current keys. Otherwise, you need to have ford program your keys to the new ECU which will be over $100. Get a SCT tune for your current ECU and be happy.

ok so the best bet then is to just get an mtx ecu and tune it?
