    will the cylinder heads off of a 3l work on a 2.5 motor

    They would bolt up but depending on the year block and year of the heads certain oil/coolant passages wouldn't match up. Compression would drop quite a bit so you'd loose a ton of power. The cylinder and compression chamber would be shaped like a mushroom. I don't know if the head gasket would seal. There really is no reason to do it.

    If by round port he means the split port he'll also have to deal with an electric water pump since those heads lacked the cam driver pump.

    as blackcoog said, theres no reason to do it. you'd lose power, gaskets might not seal... ugh. blackcoog covered it all. theres nothing else i can add.
