I think most people will say the svt cams are better. There is plenty of info here and on ceg regarding this. I have driven a ported 3L with 3L cams and I have driven a ported 3L with svt cams. Really I couldn't tell a huge difference. With the 3L cams the power and torque come in a little sooner but the svt cams pull harder at the top end. My 98 has a ported 3L with 3L cams and pulls really hard all the way up to the redline.

svt cams give higher top end, while 3L cams give a better midrange. please dont install 3L cams on a 2.5L. I have a set of svt cams in the for sale section if your looking for some.
buy my stuff. http://www.newcougar.org/forums/thread154654.html
Full 3L with SVT's in mine, top end is pretty good. Havent driven a 3L with 3L cams but most say they are not worth the hassle to swap out.
why not put the 3l cams in a 2.5 you shouldn't smack a valve or anything may just need a tune but shouldn't have anything major happen
a 3L duratec doesnt have 2 runners for each cylinder. the 2.5 does. one is short and the other is long, made for torque and high end power. since the 3l doesnt they have different cams tunes specifically to the needs the the oval ports
This is silly. The mix and match people do on 3l's should tell you that the cams and UIM's arent dependent on each other...its all in the tune. They could be designed to compliment each other, but they are certainly not co-dependent.
The only guy that tried it screwed up the work, then tried to get away without a tune. The truth is we have no idea how it would perform because nobody else has bothered.
