Re: Any1 Seafoam a engine?

through the brake booster is not the best way to do it, you only get a partial cleaning, we do this all the time at my shop(its the easiest way) in order to get the best possible cleaning, find your fuel shut off(located by driver kick panel) tap it once. then hook your hose to the fuel purge valve, this way your running pure cleaner or whatever you use. do a couple of 2,000rpm to 5,000 romps, once all the solution is out and the engine has died on its own,tap the fuel shutoff again and crank it over, dont worry it might take a while to start back up.

Re: Any1 Seafoam a engine?

i've got the UIM off the top of my engine at the moment..so i thought i would do a little experiment. I've just dripped seafoam on the secondary butterflies to see if seafoam disolves the carbon build up. This is all it can be doing when you suck it in the vacuum lines. Result..nothing...seafoam does not disolve carbon build up. It seems the stuff only works when mixed with fuel and squirted in the cylinder. So you might be better off putting it in the gas tank. The other use..putting it in your oil before a change, well i've done this and the oil came out black...make of that what you will...G.

Exactly.

I'm not too big on seafoam for cleaning. I bought a can just to try it out when cleaning my uim/lim. It did very poorly for removing the gunk on the manifolds. I was not impressed. Berryman B12 works wonders, however, and it was cheaper.

Re: Any1 Seafoam a engine?

Well after pulling my UIM for the first time in the now 100,000 miles, The buildup was horrible. I ran seafoam through my intake using one of the tubes off of the short ram, the one I used to use for the intake temp sensor. I havent pull the UIM to check the buildup, but the engine feels better than it ever has. Smooth acceleration and it pulls alot harder and faster. We have to see how long this sticks around for, its onyl been a day so far.

I have run other cleaners though the gas tank before and I didnt have nearly this good of a result.

Cleaners through the gas tank don't clean the uim/lim.
