Question about a connection

I have a short ram intake kit from customcougars.com and I have had it a while and just never got around to installing it. But when I tried the first time to install it I ran into a problem. There is a connector on the side of the stock airbox that goes into it and my intake tube has a spot coming off of it like its there for that connector but it doesnt work unless i taped it on and I dont want to do that haha. So I was wondering what this connector was and how can I make it connect if i need it too. I can take pictures of what im talking about if needed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I attached a picture of the spot where the conector could only go.

Re: Question about a connection

Sounds like the Intake Air Temperature sensor...yes, you need it.

Re: Question about a connection

that would probably be a little better then tape. Whenever i get around to putting it in ill make sure i have some handy. Thanks for the tip. I might try widening the hole or cutting it off so i have a bigger hole to put the sensor in but ill figure all that would when i get around to it.

Also does anybody know where i could get the extension to make it a true cold air setup?

Re: Question about a connection

My Injen intake used a short piece of the air tubing that was in the kit. Cut it the same depth as the fitting in the MAF adapter, insert the tubing, and then insert the IAT sensor into the tubing. The tubing makes the opening the correct size, and helps grip the "ears" on the IAT. Mine's been like that for three or four years now, never moved.
