Re: Egr delete plate
Make your own?
I wouldn't think it's something you could just order. It can't be too hard to make though.

Re: Egr delete plate
Unless you have a specific reason for wanting to delete the EGR (say, F/I?), leave it alone. Yes, it can be a hassle and adds to the horrible intake fouling on the Duratec (but it's not the only contributor), but it serves specific purposes. It helps heat the combustion chamber while cold by circulating hot exhaust gases back into the intake, and at temperature, it helps cool the cylinders (yes, cool. Do some searching on posts by me where I explain how it works).

Re: Egr delete plate
EGR slows the burn rate and raises the knock threshold (acts like octane) and will allow leaner mixtures under cruise giving better mileage. It is not active under WOT and will not hurt performance. I'd keep it...

Re: Egr delete plate
I agree with those that say leave the EGR in place and working.
The valve only opens (recirculates exhaust gas) when the engine is at relatively steady state throttle. Exhaust gas is NOT recirculated into the cylinders during idle, when the engine is cold, or at heavy or wide open throttle. In otherwords it does not affect your cold start or idle, idle quality, or go fast ability! Injecting the inert exhaust gas lowers the combustion chamber temperatures, relatively, by displacing some fuel/air mixture. This prevents detonation or engine knock. If your engine is knocking, the knock sensor retards engine timing to stop the detonation and hopefully serious engine damage. This can really hurt your engine performance giving you the opposite of what your're striving for. If you are concerned that the recirculated exhaust gas displacing the air/fuel mixture at steady state throttle is hurting your race performance, just step on the gas.

Re: Egr delete plate
not to side track this, but as I was reading up on EGRs, now correct me if I'm wrong... but some cars will go throught he method of running coolant around the TB instead of recirculating exhaust gases.

Re: Egr delete plate
Not sure if the 04 GTO LS1 also has a EGR as well, but there is a coolant line that runs to the TB to help warm the intake when its cold and the engine is not up to operating temps. I believe they did away with it on the 05/06 LS2

Got turbine on my mind

Re: Egr delete plate
if you really want to go through with your idea, get either of the following parts:
Mazda MPV EGR plug: 48ZE−3209 Ford Mondeo EGR plate: −9D440− of course, you could make a plate yourself. fastcougar made one; he might have a template.
