Re: My quest for 30mpg

Another thing you can look into is getting it economy tuned. You might be able to squeeze out a couple of mpgs my adjusting the AF ratio, especially in the cruising range.

I'm still able to get almost 30 mpg with my 3L on the highway.

Re: My quest for 30mpg

I'm using the cleanmpg.com mileage logs to track my progress, and I got 29.3 out of my last tank. The coug meter is now sitting at 29.9.

I do a lot of coasting.

so for your perspective, i payed $8.63 a gallon today!! my girlfriend in sweden 2 or 3% less than me.

I cant get a straight up to date answer on what you pay though, but i know it cant be far from the $3 per gallon mark. obv i know canada are paying more.

i read somewhere that a dude got his cougar for better mpg, over here, the cougar touches the limit of what is acceptable.

rant over...

And the reason why you guys (and canada) are paying so much is because your governments tax the heck out of it. You don't have to deal with the cost of gas going up AND the value of the pound going down like we have to with the dollar.

Not only that but your winters are no where near as bad as what we have here....and a lot of places use fuel oil as heating. That is over $4/gallon as well. My dad had to spend around $3,000 to heat the house this past winter.

Re: My quest for 30mpg

Did you reset the meter & only drive a short distance ? or was it that low & you haven't reset it ?

It only fairly accurate after a few tanks of gas... If you fill up & reset it then drive across town it's not going to give you realistic numbers.

£ 1.15 = 2.24572 U.S. dollars
1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters

$2.24 per liter * 3.785 liters per gallon = $8.48 per gallon ....

Check your math, w/ less rounding it's more like $8.50... at least today it is. The exchange rate fluctuates a lot, espescially w/ how weak the american dollar is right now. Alot of americans are b!tching because they can't afford to drive their huge SUV's around town anymore.... Get over it, people feel they are entitled low gas prices boo hoo, we're finally joining the rest of the world with the cost of gas.

yeah, I did recheck my math on that one and deleated it....guess I wasn't fast enough.

What really bugs me is all these stories of people who make like $150-200K/year and they are saying that they can't afford to take their yearly vacation someplace, using hand me down clothes etc. Seriously...if you can't budget an extra $50-100 a month when you make that much money, you should be shot.
