Re: Wanna Go Fast

12's are possible: 3L, turbo, no exhaust and about a 150 shot and really really stickey tires

You will have a better chance beating your friend on a track..

Re: Wanna Go Fast

Yeah, these cars are MUCH better suited to a ROAD COURSE, with actual corners and straights. REAL driving. None of this straight-line, stab-it-and-steer crap.

This is a DRIVER'S car. Not a purpose-built straight-line rocket. Soon as that Neon hits a hard corner, it winds up in the ditch.

Look at the new Nissan GT-R. If you're driving one, and you meet up with a Corvette Z06 or a Porsche 911 on a freeway or a drag strip, you're gonna get beat. But take those same 3 cars to the road course, and the Nissan finishes a good 5 seconds faster than the rest. It's all about being WELL-BALANCED and WELL-ROUNDED. Which is why I enjoy driving this car so much.

Not to mention how it looks. That's just the icing on the cake.

Sorry to tell you this but the new GTR will be neck and neck with the Corvette in straight line drag.
I believe the numbers were 3.8 sec 0 to 60 for the GTR, and 3.7 for the Vette.
And on the road course, GTR really isnt faster than the Porsche. In fact, they had almost identical track time.

(I just got a new issue of EVO, which compared the new GTR to the Vette, R8 and the Porsche.)

Eeeh; I was going with the data from an article on Autoblog, where in the GT-R schooled the Porsche and the Z06 on the Ring.

Maybe it was a J-spec.

But you get my point.

I thought I read that they tested and tuned the GT-R on the Nόrburgring in Germany, and it was destroying Porsches there...?

Yep - I did a quick search on Autoblog:

Quote:
Take one 997 Porsche Turbo that has lapped the 'Ring in 7:40, practically fast enough to form one of those Stargate SG-1 vortexes behind it. Then take one Nissan GT-R, benchmarked against that Porsche Turbo, and flog that baby around the 'Ring as fast as possible. Add a few reporters on hand with stopwatches. And when the GT-R flies past the finish line, the reporters discover those stopwatches have come to rest after just 7:38.

So the story is that the GT-R is two seconds faster than the 911 Turbo on the Nurburgring.
So OK; it isn't FIVE seconds, but that rice burner spanked that Porsche.

And check out this link:
