About the Duratec

Does the Duratec work like a i-Vtec engine? I mean the variable vale lifting?
The manual says the valve clearance is "Hydraulic valve adjusters". If it's true, what is the shifting RPM?

Re: About the Duratec

Yes, he's sure. There is no VVT or Vtec. You might be confusing the IMRC with what you think is VVT. It opens the secondary butterflies in the lower intake and the ECU advances timing all at about 3500rpm. The car seems to really pickup at this point.

Re: About the Duratec

^^what he said, the newer 3L's (like in the fusion) and the new 3.5L's have VVT tho, but our cougar engines don't.

Re: About the Duratec

Maybe there is something confusing. I am asking about the variable valve lifting, not variable valve timing. I mean the valves move deeper than what they do in low RPM.

I know that the new 3.5/3.7 duratec (may be true for 3.0) has s-vt, which means "timing", and our 2.5 doesn't have.
