Exclamation Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

Guys,

Saw the exhaust post above but thought I'd throw a couple of questions in a new post since most people have read that one already.

My new Coog has a loud exhaust (I think Flowmaster but not positive, this was how I bought it). I like how it sounds on short trips but after a while it gets old as the sound kind of gets on the ears and it drowns out some of the tunes I play.

First question.....Can anyone recommend a good exhaust that has some low level noise but isn't too loud? Which ones?

Also, wanted to get some thoughts on performance. One guy at work says I'll lose a lot of horsepower if I return the exhaust back to stock. My pool team captain who is a long time mechanic says I'll lose some but not all that much.

2. Anyone want to comment on how much an exhaust system really adds to horsepower?

'Bout it. Any advice much appreciated as always.

Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

Just get a little bit quieter muffler...IMO it would be retarded to go back to stock and be more expensive most likely. The muffler I'm putting on my car is a Flowtech Raptor. Ordered it online and cost less than $35 shipped. I know I'm cheap lol. I mocked it up under my car and its a lot quieter than I expected, but still deep and I think I will really enjoy it. Might wanna check that out. BTW - I have a 4cyl with 2.5" piping.

EDIT- x2 on the louder tunes. I have no exhaust now and dont have a problem hearing my music lol.

Any opinions on what this setup would sound like on the 2.5? I don't wanna sound like a ricer, I wanna have an exhaust note as close to the stock G35, or 350Z, I know it won't sound exactly like it, just want some purr, not all buzzy. I am focusing more on my audio not my power output, just want a low growl.

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

I have the Magnaflow system with my resonator removed and 2.5' piping on the 2.5L. I love the sound, its real deep, but not as....whats the word im looking for.......loud/raspy/heavy as the flowmaster sound. People with Flowmaster, please correct me, as I am only talking from my own experience, and not having flowmaster, im just going by what ive read on here. Im pretty sure that flowmaster is the louder out of magnaflow/flowmaster/borla.

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

I heard some on YouTube that were magnaflows, sounded okay i guess, maybe what I asking for is gonna be hard to find... I'm thinking just gutting the cats, and getting a good header, and see how that sounds and go from there.

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

Or, you could sound deaden your interior which will reduce exhaust noise.
It will be more expensive, but it will be worth it.
