People with Flowmaster, please correct me, as I am only talking from my own experience, and not having flowmaster, im just going by what ive read on here. Im pretty sure that flowmaster is the louder out of magnaflow/flowmaster/borla.
I have flow master and its loud, its not the deep sound. It gives it more of the old car sound.

You should listen to some flowmaster or borla exhaust. I know my flow master sounds nothing even close to a ricer. I also have headers and a nice short ram intake.

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

And getting headers isn't going to lessen the noise any, def gonna want a quieter muffler if you go that route

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

If you do have a flowmaster its one of the loudest for the car. You can get a resonator to tone it down some or get a new exhaust. I have a true borla from the company with the resonator and love it!

absolutely correct headers made mine louder but it sounds good. also if u dont want it loud i'd make sure you keep you stock air box for your intake and not put an sri.

It will be more expensive, but it will be worth it.
The exhaust noise to me isn't ever an issue, I just don't wanna have a loud exhaust note, I don't wanna have everybody in traffic turn and look at me and throw produce for being a "ricer." I wonder if I can score the G35 stock mufflers and have a shop do the piping, I know the motor is totally different, but it should sound similar, I would guess, right?

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

Why does everyone speak of the G35 muffler? I've yet to see anyone actually install one lol.

Because they are flippin' sweet! LOL. The tips are eye candy as well, not too big, and not like a Civic or something. They just sound like sex, it's so smooth and soft, but it's still got a deep growl, without being all raspy. They have an exhaust note that rivals Ferrari in sexiness, IMHO. I'm going to obviously be the first in here to try this first hand I guess! Finding stock mufflers shouldn't be too hard, troll the G35/Z forums and ask around I guess.

Re: Question on best performing and low noise exhaust

Any good header recomendations? I may just gut the cats, and slap some headers on, that, in my mind at least, sound similar to the G35/350Z muffler setup. Opinions?

there are two options.

MSDS, or custom.

pick MSDS.

nobody throws anything at me for my flowmaster.
and it certainly doesnt sound "rice", whatever that means. At idle, my flows are pretty quite. it has a resonance problem at around 2000 rpm and settles into a nice throaty (not raspy) note above 4000 rpm.

It may be loud, but it sure aint rice.
