Re: Problems with Underdrive PS and Alt pulleys

Well it appears the belt problem was caused by a tensioner issue. I dealt with that but now it seems the alternator is still trying to take a dump on me. I just don't know how long to try and hold out so that when I bring the one off the car to autozone it will forsure test bad and I will get my freebie that comes due to the LLT. If I don't wait long enough it will test good and I will be SOL if I wait too long I will ahve a towing bill to pay and then have a dead alternator for sure.

Re: Problems with Underdrive PS and Alt pulleys

On mine the tensioner was just extremely loose. I pulled the old belt that was shot, found the tensioner still had the spring tentsion too it but the bolt was out probably 3 or 4 full rotations from being tight. So I tightened up the bolt and put the belt back on there. Since then I have driven about 200 miles and I will be pulling the belt again tonight to replace the alternator I plan on checking out the tensioner a bit more this time and see what is going on there. I will update what I find out.

Re: Problems with Underdrive PS and Alt pulleys

Swap to a shorter belt if the belt length is an issue with the tensioner.
