Here's a pic of Seanyoyoyoyo99's new oil pan, compared with his old one.

He can give you the part number of the new one.

OK, I have to ask. When we replaced the oil pan gasket on Royce's car (he has the Escape pan, IIRC), when we pulled it off it had a gasket that just set down into an indentation in the pan, but the gasket we got from NAPA was a full metal gasket with a rubber strip on the inner edge. We had a rather interesting arguement about if it was the right gasket or not. He hasn't had any more leakage than he did before (he's got 2 bolts that the threads are stripped out, so those aren't there and thus he still has a slight leak). Why the difference in gaskets?

Re: that upgraded oil pan

Then I'll betcha I know what happened- This happened to a Contour I had to do an engine on. The previous owner changed the oil very infrequently (or rarely), you come along, start changing the oil regularly.

The detergents in the new and regularly changed oil start breaking down some of the built-up sludge and crap in the motor, frees up enough chunks of crap that then find their way to the oil pickup tube, boom- Clogged, engine fries its bearings.

Or am I totally off base?

Re: that upgraded oil pan

I think it was more of a ring issue (right?). It was soaking the plugs (one in particular) in oil.
