Zetec Mods Dyno Comparison
Hi,
I haven't been over to check out the NECO forums in quite a while. Anywho... Check out this Zetec dyno comparison that I typed up... http://home.wi.rr.com/buttonpuncher/...Zetec_Dyno.htm http://home.wi.rr.com/buttonpuncher/...Zetec_Dyno.xls It really shows you what mods give you the most bang for the buck. It was done on a Focus Zetec, but our engines are so similar, it really doesn't matter. HTH, BP

Re: Zetec Mods Dyno Comparison
That is so true buffdaddy!!!!
The best "bang for your buck" according to that chart shows that you get a measley 5.9 HP @ $129 for the pulley which comes to $21.86 per/HP. Nitrous now, that's a whole 'nother story. An average nitrous kit comes to ~$500 (although you can get some for $350-$400). You can get up to 75 HP (on a v-4 at least). Plug it into the equation ($500/75HP) = $6.66/HP!!!! That absolutely KILLS all other mods! ![]() BTW: it's too bad that nobodies ever done, nor will do, that with the Cougar.

Re: Zetec Mods Dyno Comparison
Nitorus is of course the best bang for your buck temporary or drag race mod. Unfortunately it all but usless for normal driving or auto-x. The pulley can be had for less than what is listed there. As a matter of fact you can certainly find all of those mods for less than what was listed on that sheet. A decent local machine shop can rework your head for less. Really who buys a air filter for more than 100 bucks? I just bought an Esslinger pulley used for about 30 bucks. I'll need a belt but still will be less than 50 bucks. The best place to find used zetec-vct parts is on TeamZX2. I drive a 98 contour and still find more parts there then CEG or here.

Re: Zetec Mods Dyno Comparison
i dont know much about the zetec. but i heard the best mod for auto-x aside from forced induction is to change the intake and exhaust manifolds and some good after market cams with adjustable gears. any one with dyno truth to it. i would love to see what all those things could do for the zetec

Re: Zetec Mods Dyno Comparison
Guys, the whole point of the dyno chart is how to get more power out of a NA Zetec. Of course FI is the best way to get more power.
Now when you mod your engine the added power is only magnified by FI. Also, in the sport compact area, the Zetec is one of the cheapest engines to mod. You can get a CGI block for $800, pistons for $350, rods for $350, the FRPP head-intake-cams for $2k. For about $4k you can have a motor that is built to handle 30psi of boost. You'll pay 3x that to do the same with a Honduh. BP
