I am new to your guys great forum.
I am replacing a timing belt for a friend on his 1999 Mercury Cougar 2.0
I exclusively work on v8 engines, rear wheel drive- it is simple design.
I can do any repair on my Lexus'
I am very mechanically capable but do need advice
Clearly there needs to be a thread about how to remove cougar engines.
I will post pictures and make a tutorial if I can get some advice.
Moreover to start I am pulling the 2.0 cougar engine from the topside with a picker.
Does the engine unbolt from the transmission for the removal?
How is the engine mated with the transmission mechanically?
Does the engine unbolt from the transmission via the flywheel to a torque converter?
I cannot determine the best way to remove the engine from the transmission at this point mainly due to lack of information around.
Lets start with the answers to those questions.
I know we can make this work collaboratively
Thanks alot men
