so timing belt broke today

so i get in my car start it up, and let it warm up for a few minutes, put it in drive and take off, then i hear like a *thud, phfff!* sound and the car dies, i try turinging over for a second and its cranking fast im like great, timing belt broke. so i had to push it to the side of the street and i was late for work obviously. so now i guess im jump started on my turbo build. the other motor is practically done, just gotta do oil pump and lower crankcase and head and accesories, maybe a 4 hour job, then disconnect everything on the car and pull the old motor out. then do all the fab work, so in 3-4 weeks, itll be done! so im glad i bought the motor when i did, and for only 200 bucks it was a great deal! so now i have to drive my dads big ass diesel dodge ram 2500 big horn, 8 foot bed, full extended cab, bully dog programmer yea... its REALLY fast, like 14.1 in the quarter mile with mud tires. but i shall miss the cougar until shes beefed up and ready to kick ass!

I swear some of you guys never look at what section your in. THIS IS THE ZETEC SECTION. ZETECS HAVE TIMING BELTS. now that thats out of the way

If you have any questions or need some tips on how to route plumbing etc just shoot me a PM. i will suggest that you get the new engine finished, put it in the car and drive it for a couple hundred miles to get it good and broken in and to make sure everything is perfect. this also gives you the opurtunity to use the old engine for fabricating everything on.

When you're in the thread and as your typing for new post its in the upper(ish) left. And that sucks, how many miles were on it? I'm up to 124K and getting a bit worried about it.

Re: so timing belt broke today

I've looked at it a couple times lately and it seems alright. I really don't know how it should look though, but it didnt seem worn and it didnt look cracked or anything.

Re: so timing belt broke today

Hey, that's good news if your going to be turbocharged sooner!

3 to 4 weeks seems pretty optimistic for swapping an engine and doing the fabrication. Unless you don't have a full-time job. Do you need a flow curve for that MAF? I forgot if I gave you one.

Are you going to do anything to strengthen your ATX?

Re: so timing belt broke today

So, if the zetecs have t-belts, then the 2.5 duratecs have timing CHAINS, right?
