Question PCV Valve

The Ford Dealer told me I need a new PCV Valve. Is this on the left side of the throttle body when looking in front of the car. My Chilton Manual says you need to remove the catalytic converter. I'm confused?? Can anyone help me out?

Re: PCV Valve

Feel underneath your throttle body. There is a hard line that comes off the bottom of the intake manifold, right at the throat of the throttle body. There is a rubber hose stuck on it, and that rubber hose attaches to the PCV valve on the other end. It sits in a rubber seat between the heads.

Info from B3NN3TT

Hes got a Zetec not a V6. the PCV valve is located in the oil seperator behind the CAT. you can get to it without removing the CAT but you will have to drain some of the coolant.

drain the coolant, remove the 3 bolts holding the thermostat housing (has the upper radiator hose and crossover pipe on it) to the head, move it out of the way. using the correct Torx bit socket remove the bolt that holds the PCV pipe to the block. pull the pipe out, the PCV valve should be stuck on the end that was behind the CAT. replace the PCV valve and reinstall everything.

some have claimed that you can get to the bolt without removing the thermostat housing but i have never been able to do so. if you can, great, that means you wont have to drain the coolant.

Re: PCV Valve

get your car away from that mechanic, quickly. as i stated before, the PCV valve is behind the exhaust manifold in a triangular shaped piece thats bolted to the block.
