Sheesh, the state of education in America Aluminum is metal, and not all metal is ferrous. If the magnet sticks, it's ferrous metal - which in our engine example would indicate steel, since I don't think there are any iron components? And if it doesn't stick, it's non-ferrous, or again in our example most likely aluminum (but also a bunch of non-metallic stuff I assume you can figure out )
