Re: New to Cougars, needs help on an engine rebuild
So I pulled the engine, we ended up ordering another one instead of rebuilding because I don't have the time to rebuild the engine since my OWN car needs work and the car i just sold my mom needs to be worked on too. So i have 2 main things i need help on.
1. So guys, please let me know if I'm missing anything from my list of stuff to replace before i put this new engine in. Also, please let me know if this is all stuff i should be getting from Bill @ TeamFord or if I should be going with a certain aftermarket company. I know Hondas/Acuras and with them it's good to go with Exedy clutches and Denso/NGK plugs.
clutch + pressure plate
oil + water pumps
all belts + hoses
spark plugs + plug wires
Transmission seals
2. The old engine + tranny have around 200k on them. Obviously I'm replacing the engine but how long do the transmissions last on these cars? I don't think she was beating up on it, she tends to drive like an old lady.
3. The axle boots look like they're about to crack. I've never messed with them before so is there a way for me to replace the boots? Any links on how to do this or a link on where to buy the kit would be helpful.
Thanks for all your help guys. I plan on making a HUGE DIY on the engine swap since one wasn't available to me with pictures. Hopefully we can get it stickied.
