holy damn, I go to Culvers and get back and there's THIS MANY replies lol. WOW! Okay let's see if I can do one massive, quote free super-reply:
I'm from Wisconsin, I'm 20, and I'm poor.
Do note that that's not where I keep the mini-amp or the controller or the player really, I just set them all together for the picture. Also, the white trunk neon is just there temporarily until I can put a blue one on each side and actually hide the wires. You could hang a deer antler chandelier in there and it would look better than that off center 10 watt piece of crap that comes stock.
Yes, computer speakers in general are super crap. 90% of computer speaker systems sound like unlistenable crap so I can see how you'd jump to the conclusion that these sound terrible. Well they don't. I'm EXTREMELY picky cuz I know sound and I don't like it sounding bad. My dad's a DJ and used to be one of the the sound guys at my church and I got trained in all that too. I designed the custom computer based DJ system when we switched over from CDs and was very selective in software and hardware and cabling. Btw I'm a computer geek. I work in IT

I got a degree in computer and web programming (writing software) and another in web design. And to all you sharp people who realize I have 2 degrees and I'm 20, I started college a little early
Anywho I think I've wandered from the point. All Altec Lansings and Harmon Kardon and Monsoon are crap, and most Logitechs even but these sets actually sound like something. Not so much apart but together and with the EQ. The 530's are like tweeters with crappy high mid and the 5300's have really clear high mid with not well defined really high end. So they go great together and they're extremely loud and sound lovely. Yeah the wood frame and the player are a bit ghetto lol. You really gotta be here to hear it though. I've heard all kinds of meant for car speakers and they're all just crap. Even the highest end gear I could hear in person (although it's Circuit City we're talking about) just didn't even come close. They're in general pretty badly balances and the 4 way ones are just kinda a joke. If you played a sine wave on most car speakers and graphed the dB it would look like ocean waves during a hurricane. The logitechs are pretty flat themselves but together they're practically a straight line and with the EQ it is a straight line. I'll try to get a high quality recording of the audio my system produces and post it.
As for the neons, come on, they're neons! Did I mention they pulse to the beat of the music with a reaction speed of over 1/50 of a second. As in like play a 40 Hz bass note and they flicker at 40 Hz. They're the smartest, most sensitive and accurate sound controllers I've ever seen and that includes ones on DJ lights. Plus they're damn bright. What's wrong with putting neons on a car anyway? I think they look good. Most real sporty show cars have them if they're focused on looking cool as opposed to looking fast.
As for the whole 120V AC inverter based thing, well hey, I can power 8 laptops on my inverter at once or 1 cofee maker or...well you get the idea, I can plug in ANYTHING in there. Plus AC based speakers were cheaper (and yes I know the amp transforms it back into DC cuz there's no such thing as an AC speaker).
I think overall my system's at least "okay." I mean look at the ghetto installs website that someone linked. They used their scissors jack to ground their amp for God's sake. That's just nuts. What could you possibly recommend I do different other than switch the audio over to some standard car system and hide the wires a tiny bit better?
Btw what do you think of the future mod I mentioned with the hydraulic door and huge cougar logo?
